Displaying Non-DICOM Images in Global SCV Studies

Introduction

You can view non-DICOM objects included in a Synapse Cardiovascular (SCV) study from a global datasource. Objects include images, documents, and videos. For non-DICOM file types that are not supported, such as AVI and MPEG, you can download the file type.

Note:

  • If Synapse does not support a file type, click Download to download the file. Check with your System Administrator to ensure that you have the applicable software installed for viewing a particular file type.
  • File names from SCV studies display as tif0.tif, tif1.tif, tif2.tif (and so on) regardless of the actual file name and extension.

Synapse supports and displays the following non-DICOM file types:

  • JPG
  • PNG
  • TIFF

Steps

  1. Open a study with non-DICOM images associated with the study in the Viewer.
  2. Do one of the following:

    Display the non-DICOM object in a viewport.

    Drag and drop a non-DICOM object from the Series Picker into a viewport.

    Display the non-DICOM object in a Series Viewer.

    Double-click the non-DICOM object in the Series Picker.

    Display the non-DICOM object in PowerJacket.

    Right-click the SCV study and select Open Series Picker.

    Drag and drop a non-DICOM object from the Series Picker into a viewport.

    Display the non-DICOM object in the Worklist.

    Right-click the SCV study and select Open Series Picker.

    Drag and drop a non-DICOM object from the Series Picker into a viewport.

  3. Use the following options if needed. These options display at the bottom of the pane when the non-DICOM image includes multiple pages.

    Click to move to the next non-DICOM image.

    Click to move to the previous non-DICOM image.

  4. Use the mouse wheel to scroll through the non-DICOM images in a multi-page document.
