2-Point Y-Axis Alignment

You can rotate an image with a 2-point rotation tool to manipulate images for viewing. This feature is only available for the DX and CR modalities.

Steps

  1. Right-click the image and select Spatial Tools.
  2. Select 2pt Y-Axis Alignment. The mouse cursor changes to an arrow.
  3. Click to place the first point.
  4. Click to place the second point.

Results

Synapse rotates the image, aligning the two points with the y-axis of the viewport. Synapse uses the highest of the two points to align the image to the y-axis regardless whether the highest point was the first or second point.

When you apply a 2-point rotation, overlays reflect the amount of rotation or the state of the images. An icon 2D Rotation Applied displays in the viewport to indicate rotation was applied.

  • Hover over the icon to display the amount of rotation in degrees.
  • Click the icon to remove the rotation. Synapse resets the image rotation to the state it was acquired in (or to a rotation that was saved as part of presentation or snapshot state).
  • If the image is rotated to the oblique view and you apply a 2-point rotation, the following tools are unavailable:
    • Rectangle annotation creation
    • Shutter options
    • Anonymization Mask and Mask creation
    • Magnifying Glass

    Note:

Presentation states only support rotations of 90-degree increments.

  • Additional Options

Hover over the orientation markers, such as A, H, P, or F, to display an active orientation overlay Active overlay orientation. Do any of the following:

    • Click Rotate image clockwise 90 degrees to rotate the image clockwise 90 degrees.
    • Click Rotate image clockwise 180 degrees to rotate the image clockwise 180 degrees.
    • Click A, P, R, L, H, or F to flip the image either horizontally or vertically.
    • Click Rotate image counter-clockwise 90 degrees to rotate the image counter-clockwise 90 degrees.
    • See Viewer Context and Icon Menu Options for image orientation options.

    Note:

If the image does not support patient orientation, Synapse automatically provides <, >, v, and ^ as active overlay orientation markers on the image.
