Logging Into and Out of Desktop Agent
The primary purpose of the Desktop Agent is to integrate third-party applications, such as dictation programs, with Synapse. The Desktop Agent provides integration between Synapse web pages and your workstation.
Once you log into the Desktop Agent, you will remain logged in until you specifically log out of the Desktop Agent, even if you log out of Synapse, or shut down the workstation.
- Right-click the Desktop Agent
and select Log In...
- Do one of the following to log into Desktop Agent:

Enter your Synapse user name and password and click Log In.

Use your current workstation Windows login credentials and click Log in with Windows instead.

Opening Synapse from the Desktop Agent Icon
If your workstation has the Desktop Agent installed, Synapse displays a Desktop Agent icon in the desktop tool tray. Contact your System Administrator to install and configure the Desktop Agent. Here are some of the options you can exercise:

Open Synapse with the Desktop Agent
located in your Desktop tray toolbar or on your Desktop: Double-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
.

Open in a specific browser: Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
. Select Launch Synapse Using your preferred browser.

Change the language of the Desktop Agent context menu: Right-click either the ready to connect Desktop Agent
or the active Desktop Agent
. Select Settings and select the preferred language.

Configuring the Desktop Agent
You can configure the browser, connection, and individual components through the Desktop Agent. For components to display, they must be enabled. See your System Administrator for more information.

Right-click the disconnected Desktop Agent
in the desktop tool tray and select Settings.
- Select the General tab.
- In the Browser panel, select a browser.
- Select the Components tab.
- Enable or disable integration components such as PowerScribe.

Configuring PowerScribe
The PowerScribe tab displays in the Desktop Agent dialog box when PowerScribe is enabled in SWAT.
- Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
or the active Desktop Agent
in the tray and select Settings.
- Select the PowerScribe tab.
- Do any of the following in the PowerScribe | Reporting panel:
- Enable Use Desktop Credentials to automatically log into PowerScribe with your workstation account.
- Disable Use Desktop Credentials to always prompt for your user name and password.
- Enable Always on Top to keep PowerScribe on top of all other applications.
