Using 2D Slab Thickness
Introduction
The 2D Slab Thickness function blends a contiguous sequence of images within a single series to provide increased visual context for the active image. When you enable 2D Slab Thickness, Synapse displays a projection of the active image and the images before and after it. Thickness can be increased or decreased similar to the slab operation in a 3D Viewer.
The 2-D slab options are:
- MIP (Maximum Intensity Projection)
- MinIP (Minimum Intensity Projection)
- MPVR (Multiple Planar Volume Reconstruction)
2D Slab Thickness is only available for studies that meet the following criteria:
- Modality is CT, PT, or MR
- Study includes multiple images
- Images use the same orientation

Density measurements, changing tile format, and the Magnifying glass are not supported while Slab Thickness is enabled. |
Steps
- Right-click an image to open the image context menu.
- Select 2D Slab Thickness > Slab Thickness on/off.
- Select one of the three supported rendering modes:
2D Slab Thickness
Description
2D MIP
Show the image plane rendered by the Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP).
2D MinIP
Show the image plane rendered by Minimum Intensity Projection (MinIP).
2D MPVR
Show the image plane averaged by Multiple Planar Volume Reconstruction (MPVR).
- Use the mouse wheel to scroll through images in the series which Synapse applied the 2D slab thickness to.
- Select 2D Slab Thickness > Slab Thickness on/off to turn off 2D Slab Thickness.

When 2D Slab Thickness is disabled, the rendering modes associated with it are also disabled. The 2D Slab Thickness option itself is unavailable if it is not available for the current series. |
