Using Patient Search in XDS Consumer

Introduction

Use the patient search screen in XDS Consumer to search either by a patient ID or demographic information. Patient search is only available in unsynchronized patient mode .

Note:

  • When searching by Patient ID, results for one patient are returned. Search for more than one patient by searching on demographic information such as last name, first name, or other criteria.
  • When you search by date, you must use the format YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.

Steps

  1. Enter search parameters into the fields under the column headers.
  2. Enter a minimum of one parameter to initiate a search. If you enter one patient ID, XDS Consumer ignores all other criteria and clears the corresponding boxes.
  3. If you enter several patient IDs, XDS Consumer uses only one for search. The order of precedence is Local > Global > Supplementary. (A unique global, local, and optional supplementary ID is associated with each patient.)
  4. Press Enter to initiate the search.

Results

If the search identifies patients matching the search criteria, the screen displays the list.

Additional Information

  • A search by patient ID is case-sensitive and requires the entire patient ID to match exactly.
  • A search by demographic parameters is not case-sensitive and requires only the beginning of the word.
  • Wildcards are not supported.
