Multi-monitor Viewer Support for Cardiologists

By selecting options in the Viewer Window user settings (Settings -> Image Display -> Viewer Window), all users now have the same experience when using viewports in a multi-monitor set up.

Measurements Protocols Panel

Synapse allows you to perform, view, and manage protocol measurements using the Protocols Panel. The Protocols Panel serves as the primary interface for performing modality-specific protocol measurements. Any changes made in Clinical Reporting Application are reflected in the Protocols Panel.

This feature also extends the capabilities of the Protocols Panel and provides the ability to have protocol configurations with calculations and manually entered values by leveraging the Advanced Reporting calculation engine to solve and display configured calculations, including Ejection Fraction.

Pie CAAS Integration

Synapse supports the integration of the Pie CAAS application software for performing an advanced analysis of single and multiframe DICOM angiographic files. Pie CAAS integration provides you with the ability to:

  • Launch Pie CAAS from the Viewer.
  • Export the Pie CAAS XML, if configured, to the Synapse GPI after you have completed an analysis in Pie CAAS.
  • Resume a prior session in Pie CAAS when you reopen a study in subsequent sessions.

Enhance Epic Integration to Support Cupid

This feature expands Epic integration support to Epic Cupid for reporting. Epic integration provides the option to be Synapse driven or Epic driven, allowing you to export data to Epic, import distributed reports from Epic to display in PowerJacket, and encrypt the XML file.

Enhance TomTec Third-Party Integration

This feature enhances the current TomTec integration and supports:

  • Launching TomTec Arena from the Viewer and Series Picker context menus using the TomTec Arena submenu options listed under Annotations.
  • Importing a TomTec DICOM Structured Report (SR) file into Synapse, allowing you to:
    • Resume a prior session in TomTec when opening the study in subsequent sessions.
  • For Advanced Reporting (AR) studies, import TomTec DICOM SR or XML files to populate AR reports.

Implement Epiphany CardioServer Integration

This feature allows you to display Epiphany studies in PowerJacket and the Viewer for reference when diagnosing a patient. When these studies are selected, Epiphany CardioServer loads the selected study in a separate window. The finalized report is displayed in PowerJacket for a quick reference.

Combine Ultrasound Image Views into Virtual Series

Synapse can create virtual series by grouping multiframe ultrasound images that have the same View Number and Stage Number DICOM tags. Virtual series display in Series Picker and Anywhere Series Picker.

Results Overlay

The Results overlay is an ordered list of annotations performed on an ultrasound (US) image. The Results overlay is included in the Grayscale Softcopy Presentation State (GSPS) for an image when it is exported.

Measurement Protocols Panel

This feature adds the ability to dynamically load procedure-specific protocol configurations, skip measurements within a Protocol, and have multiple values that are synchronous with the Clinical Reporting Application.

Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) Support

This feature enables the Viewer to utilize and apply Digital Subtraction (DSA) on X-Ray Angiography (XA) images. You can turn DSA on and off using the context menu. This allows you to view images with and without masking. This feature only supports Average Subtraction utilizing the information defined in the DICOM header.

Reading Protocol Enhancements

This feature adds the ability to make dynamic Reading Protocols your default option for specific modalities. Make high priority is a new user setting that allows you to make dynamic protocols a higher priority than system protocols. Administrators can configure this setting per role, user, or for an enterprise. This setting also allows you to navigate current and priors independent of the reading protocol.

R-Wave Synchronization

This feature extends the multiframe Viewport and supports synchronous playback of stress echo images. The feature assumes that the images contain the same number of cardiac cycles and are gated to begin playback at the onset of the R-wave. The Viewer automatically adjusts the playback of each viewport so that cycles start and end at the same time. The images are synchronized to the longest (with respect to total time) image. Scrolling is also synchronized across all of the images.

This feature is only enabled for stress echo steps created by dynamic ultrasound reading protocols.

Send Key Image to Any Reporting System

The Send to Report option adds the ability to send one or more images from the Viewer to an open report, which includes Clinical Reporting Application, PowerScribe, and other reporting systems. You can select a single, focused image or multiple images from the current study. Annotations and measurements made in the Viewer are included in the report.

Context Menu - Layout Navigation Update

This feature includes updates to the Layout Navigation context and icon menu options now includes a Shift Series Options submenu which includes:

  • Shift Previous Series
  • Shift Next Series
  • Shift Previous Page
  • Shift Next Page
  • First Series
  • Last Series

Measurement Experience Improvements

The Synapse context and icon menus have been streamlined and consolidated to provide a clean and intuitive context menu and easy access to the measurement and annotation tools.

Measurements as Annotations

Synapse supports ultrasound measurements, which behave consistently as Synapse annotations and can be performed, toggled, saved, and exported in various formats, including GSPS. This includes: length, area, volume, slope, time, velocity, and velocity time integral.

Cine Enhancements

  • New cine toolbar that displays for both multiframe and non multiframe viewports
  • Toggle between oscillate and loop modes
  • View fps while cine is playing
  • Move the cine toolbar to your preferred location
  • Within a multiframe viewport, play cine series independently of each other in more than one viewport

Trim Cine Feature

In a multiframe viewport, you have the ability to reduce or trim the number of frames the cine plays. Turn the trim mode on or off directly in the viewport to alter the number of frames cine plays.
